|
The Cascade Center program is distinguished by its close association with the long-standing research program at the Andrews Experimental Forest. Not only does the Cascade Center benefit from the Andrews Forest's vast storehouse of forest research data and knowledge, but it also benefits from a unique collaboration between resource managers and scientists. The following Cascade center projects are a product of this collaboration. These projects incorporate the latest forest research findings and are designed to test new forest management techniques in a rigorous scientific environment. THE YOUNG STAND THINNING & DIVERSITY STUDYA management study evaluating the ecological, operational, social, and economic consequences of alternative methods of managing 30-50 year-old plantations.
THE BLUE RIVER LANDSCAPE STUDYA landscape-scale study testing an alternative approach to management using historical disturbance regimes (e.g. fire) as a model.
